Humble Beginnings...

Like more than a few good things in life, my whisky passion started with a dram, a dram of whisky on my wedding day. It was nothing fancy mind, just an aptly named “Founders Reserve”.  From there I dived deep into the whisky ocean, and went - like a lot of you I imagine - on a wonderful journey of discovery.  A journey not just of taste, places, and special moments in time...but of whisky people and their stories.

Whisky is a wonderful medicine. When treated with respect, it brings people together, and encourages community, sharing and enjoyment.  Whisky stimulates creativity and its appreciation. It can open up the heart and stir the soul.

From just the three simple ingredients of barley, water, and yeast, and then through a romantic industrial - or even alchemical process - beautiful spirit emerges to be filled into casks, and rests there for time and wood to work their magic.  Later, sometimes much later, design & bottling occurs. Only then comes the special moment for us all to taste and discover this water of life.

East Coast Whisky represents the continuation of this journey, into sharing with you what whisky is out there, the experiences and stories it brings, and the people it meets along its way.

There will be blogging, tastings, whisky meals, festivals, cask bottling, and more as we journey to maturation.

Our focus is coastal and local, as myself and the team are based in East Lothian and Edinburgh, Scotland. Yet we are open to all who form this global whisk(e)y community, near and far.

So welcome, pour yourself a #dramo'the day and enjoy!!!

The Details

The tasting will be held on ZOOM, from 7.30-10pm on Friday 17th December (If you can’t make that time, a recording will be available afterwards). The tasting is designed to be informative, yet informal, people really enjoy the fact that everyone can join in, and there is no whisky snobbery or show-offs!!

The TEN drams will be sent to you, 1st class signed for (in a padded box) at least a week before the tasting. You will also receive some tasting notes, the running order, and the Zoom link in the week before the event. (Please note, the drams may have a slight variation in size, as some of the bottles are from the East Coast Whisky collection).

This tasting now costs £140 inclusive of p&p (DPD to Europe is a bit more, available upon request). Places are limited so please book early. (An approximate bar cost of this tasting would be at least £600 for the drams alone). LIMITED TIME OFFER...claim a 2nd pack for £95 while stocks last!!!

To join, please pay: https://www.paypal.me/ecwhisky including your name, address, & FS 2021 in the notes. If you wish, you can also pay by bank transfer, please contact me for the details.

If this is your first tasting, please also email your name and address to dram@eastcoastwhisky.com

We also have a lively & eclectic whisky chat room on WhatsApp, again email if you are interested in joining this crew.

It has been a long year, with much happening, but this group of whisky enthusiasts, and these phenomenal tastings we have enjoyed together, have for me been one of the greatest things of 2021. THANK YOU ALL, and lets see this year out together online in style!!

Cheers,

Frederick Maitland
